2018 Forest Lawn Tours
Please join The Glendale Historical Society as we once again partner with Forest Lawn-Glendale for two incredible tours, “The Art of Crafting Stained Glass” and “The Stained Glass Art Pieces of the Great Mausoleum.” These experiences are meant to be enjoyed as a series and you won’t want to miss either one.
“The Art of Crafting Stained Glass”
On Saturday, April 21, 2018, 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Forest Lawn-Glendale will provide a glimpse into their immense archives of stained glass. Many of these pieces have not been on display in years. We will be learning from their experts how Forest Lawn not only curates stained glass art, but how they also create and restore pieces. TGHS has worked closely with the head archivist to provide you with what we expect to be a unique experience. The program will take place at the Museum at Forest Lawn-Glendale. Refreshments will be served on the Museum patio and parking is available in the Museum parking lot.
“The Stained Glass Art Pieces of the Great Mausoleum”
On Saturday, June 9, 2018, 1:00 – 3:00 pm, participants will enjoy a private tour of the Great Mausoleum as docents from Forest Lawn take us into areas of the structure that are no longer open to the general public on a daily basis. Here we will see some of the finest examples of stained glass in the world and experience first-hand the exquisite beauty of this art form. Following the tour we will have a reception with appetizers and wine in the Memorial Court of Honor below the beautiful stained glass replica of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.” Parking is available on the street surrounding the entrance to the Great Mausoleum.
Both of these tours will take place at Forest Lawn- Glendale, 1712 S. Glendale Avenue. Attendance is limited so please make your reservations as soon as possible.
- A package price for both tours is $70.
- Individual tours are $40 a person.
